History

The Establishment

The establishment of the Nafi Baba Center for Research in Sufism, History and Cultural Heritage - an academic unit within Boğaziçi University – was approved at the Boğaziçi University Senate meeting held on October 11, 2017, and the Center’s regulations were published in the Official Gazette (Resmi Gazete) on January 15, 2018. The first general assembly meeting with the founding members was held on December 26, 2019, during which the Center’s Executive Board was elected. The directorship of the Center has been held successively by Prof. Dr. Oya Pancaroğlu, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Sabuncu, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Derin Terzioğlu.
